A blog interview with Jennifer H. Wise of Radiant Journey

I launched a special blog series to honor and champion other women in business. This is a companion service to a podcast that launched on October 1, 2020.

My intention is to share insights of lessons learned by businesswomen and also elevate their services to the greater community. The goal is to inform and inspire other women with ideas in order to empower them to grow their own business ventures.

Jennifer Hirschberg-Wise of Radiant Journey is a licensed and registered Occupational Therapist offering customized rehabilitation services to people of all ages—infants, preschoolers, young adults, and adults. Her passion involves educating and empowering others to recognize their abilities while developing strategies to restore their function.

She combined her Occupational Therapy and Integrative Wellness skills in 2017 and founded Radiant Journey LLC. Whether it’s yoga, yoga nidra, t’ai chi, reiki, myofascial release massage, therapeutic bodywork, attention management, lymphedema management, or fine motor skill training, she provides support and guidance tailored to help you achieve your highest potential.

1. How long have you been a business owner?

3 and a half years

2.    What motivated you to pursue self-employment?

I saw an opportunity to bridge traditional Rehabilitation interventions and other modalities like Reiki, Yoga and the power of transformational movement and somatic or body centered approaches. 

It became quite apparent that I would need to create it if I wanted to see it in existence. 

The image that would become the logo of Radiant Journey began visiting me in my dreams for a few months as I realized that it wasn’t going away. 

3.    What do you love about it?

I love that it is creative and allows access for many people through private, small group or workshop to develop tools needed on their unique journey. Whether it’s experiencing Occupational Therapy services designed to address edema management or activities of daily living following a diagnosis or living with a chronic health condition to finding relaxation with Reiki or Yoga or gaining confidence with a balance program. 

4.    If you could go back to your younger self, what kind of advice would you give yourself about your pursuit to create your own business?

I would say, ” Be open to opportunity. When the time comes to be seen, rise. The path will be so much richer when you dare to create something new.”

5.    Who has influenced you to be the best version of yourself?

My son. When I look at his sweet face and listen to what he says about he perceives about the world around him, I think about what I want to model for him about work, personal and professional fulfillment and contribution, defining success and finding the balance between work and play; action and rest.

6.    What advice would you share with someone who is thinking about, or just beginning, managing their own business?

Surround yourself with positive people who are excited about what gifts you are considering sharing and can offer feedback and guidance along the way. Continue to expand your network and never stop learning. 

7.  What do you do to enjoy your life to the fullest?

I spend time in nature, noticing and reflecting. I enjoy preparing food with love for myself and loved ones and looking for opportunities to rejoice and celebrate the daily joys of being alive and moving forward.

8.  If you were given a million dollars, what would you do with it?

Buy land and a log cabin in the Berkshires to establish an animal sanctuary and retreat center. 

9. Any suggestions on resources: books, podcasts, online learning, blogs + tools?

Commit to a balance of reflection and action. Networking organizations that resonate with you and opportunities where you find that you are appreciated and valued. If it doesn’t fit, go elsewhere. 

10.  Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Radiant Journey LLC has expanded to offer a diverse number of services and products, both in person and virtual environments. Radiant Journey LLC boasts a team of 6 who serve clients throughout the New England region in person and internationally throughout virtual offerings.

11.  Can you share a favorite quote?

I can share two favorite quotes from Maya Angelou:

 “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”  

“Success is liking yourself, liking what you do and liking how you do it.”
